If you're dreaming of an authentic Tuscan experience, this women-only bikepacking trip is the perfect way to explore the heart of Italy. Over five unforgettable days, we’ll cycle through Tuscany’s stunning landscapes, winding through iconic villages and picturesque scenery straight out of Gladiator and La Vita è Bella.

Our route will take you through Tuscany’s legendary strade bianche (famous white gravel roads) at a relaxed pace. Starting just outside Siena, we'll guide you along routes made famous by the Eroica and the Strade Bianche race. You’ll pedal through the rolling hills of Chianti and Vernaccia, visit medieval towns like San Gimignano, and take in the unforgettable views of vineyards, cypress trees, and charming hilltop villages. Plus, we’ll explore the fortress town of Monteriggioni and the medieval streets of Siena, stopping for espresso in its bustling piazza and gelato with a Tuscan lunch.

Watch in awe as a stage of this world-famous event arrives in Siena—a true bucket-list moment for cycling fans! The atmosphere will be electric as the world’s top cyclists race through the Tuscan landscape, and you’ll be there to witness it all firsthand. It's the perfect way to immerse yourself in Italy’s cycling culture while riding through one of the most scenic regions in the world. Join us for a trip that blends the beauty of Tuscany with the thrill of professional cycling!

Gravel, Gelato & Gratitude

This isn’t just a cycling trip; it’s a mindful escape designed for women who want to balance adventure and recovery. Each morning, we’ll begin with a grounding meditation to prepare for set our intentions for the day ahead. In the evenings, we’ll unwind together with stretching and relaxation sessions to recover from the day’s efforts.

Throughout the journey, you’ll enjoy incredible Italian hospitality—delicious meals, local wines, and authentic cultural experiences. Sat May 17 - Welcome to Radda in Chianti

Airport transfers from Florence, bike setup, shake-out ride

We will meet you in Florence and bring you to Radda in Chianti, a 1-hour drive to a picturesque medieval village in the heart of Tuscany’s wine region, offering stunning views of rolling vineyards and olive groves.

After a delicious lunch, we will setup our bikes, do a shake-out ride to test our gear and make any adjustments. In the evening we'll enjoy a celebratory welcome dinner in an authentic Italian restaurant.


Sun May 18 - Day 1

Radda in Chianti to Siena

The gravel route from Radda to Siena is a true gem of Tuscany, following parts of the famous Eroica route. As we ride through picturesque villages, past rows of cypress trees, and across rolling hills filled with vineyards, you’ll feel the magic of this legendary landscape. The highlight? Arriving in Siena just in time to witness the arrival of the stage 9 of Giro d’Italia—a truly unforgettable experience for any cycling enthusiast!


Mon May 19 - Day 2

Siena to San Quirico d’Orcia

The gravel route from Siena to San Quirico d'Orcia takes us through the heart of Tuscany’s stunning Val d'Orcia. Today’s route offers spectacular views of medieval hilltop towns, charming villages, and idyllic farmhouses. The iconic Strade Bianche lead us to San Quirico d'Orcia, a beautiful village known for its ancient churches and gardens, where we'll be treated to a well-deserved gelato amid the Tuscan landscape.


Tue May 20 - Day 3

San Quirico d’Orcia to Buonconvento
52km / 825m

Today’s ride is a scenic journey through the rolling hills and golden fields of Tuscany. As we pedal along quiet gravel paths, we'll pass vineyards, olive groves, and charming stone farmhouses, immersing ourselves in the serene beauty of the Val d'Orcia. The route leads us to the picturesque town of Buonconvento, where we’ll stay at the charming Agriturismo Percenna. Surrounded by nature, this welcoming agriturismo offers a perfect place to unwind and enjoy authentic Tuscan cuisine.


Wed May 21 - Day 4

Buonconvento to Siena
54km / 805m

The gravel route from Buonconvento takes us through rolling hills and rural roads lined with vineyards and olive groves. We’ll ride along iconic strade bianche tracks, enjoy espresso in Montalcino, explore the beautiful Murlo castle village, and follow an old mining trail. Finally, we’ll reach Villa Sant'Andrea, where we can unwind in the tranquil surroundings, ending another unforgettable day in Tuscany.


Thu May 22 - Day 5

Siena to San Gimignano
58km / 820m

Our last day is a beautiful combination of nature and culture. We’ll ride through Siena, taking in its stunning architecture and narrow streets, and enjoy a coffee in the lively piazza. Afterward, we’ll continue to the gorgeous hillside fortress town of Monteriggioni for gelato, lunch, more coffee, and some photos. Then, we'll head towards Col Val d'Elsa before arriving in the charming village of San Gimignano, where the iconic silhouette awaits. We’ll enjoy our last evening in this beloved town with a vineyard visit and wine tasting, celebrating our amazing week.


Fri May 23 - Farewell

Airport transfers and departures

The Traversata Toscana comes to a close! We’ll enjoy a final breakfast together, savouring the memories of our adventure, before arranging your transfers back to Florence.

Meet Astrid, the founder of Mindful Escape Club. Passionate about gravel cycling adventures and mindfulness, she loves creating new connections and memorable getaways. Drawing on her background in luxury hospitality and certification as a yoga teacher, she brings thoughtfulness and a personal touch to every journey. She's excited to share this bikepacking adventure with you!

Meet Julie, our cycling guide and founder of Venga Cycling. With a passion for adventures, she loves sharing her favorite routes (and coffee stops) in Girona, Mallorca, and other beautiful parts of Europe. Julie believes that cycling opens doors around the world, with the shared love of the sport transcending language barriers. She can’t wait to cheer you on, Venga Venga!

 FAQs

  • This getaway has been curated for riders who have experience road cycling - some gravel experience is needed. While the majority of the terrain is non technical, weather can impact gravel conditions, so a sense of adventure is required :)
    You should feel comfortable riding for extended hours on the saddle and handle climbs at your own pace. If you’re unsure, drop us a line and we’d be happy to chat!

  • This is a women-only trip for all ages, all origins! Anyone who identifies as a woman is welcome to join. We provide a safe space for women to ride on gravel in a supportive, non-competitive environment. 

  • Yes! Many of the women on these trips come on their own, and it's a great opportunity to meet new people and make connections. Whether you're an experienced rider or new to bikepacking, you'll find a supportive and welcoming community. This adventure is all about empowerment, fun, and exploring together :)

  • We will meet you in Florence and take you to the start of the tour in Radda in Chianti. On the last morning, we will arrange transfers for you from San Gimignano back to Florence.

  • We’re keeping the group size intimate, with a minimum of 5 participants and a maximum of 10. This ensures everyone has the opportunity to receive personalized coaching and benefit from a more tailored experience. 

  • The accommodations are carefully-selected traditional and charming hotels. Bedrooms are double occupancy with twin beds.

  • Yes! Gravel bikes are available from €290 for the week depending on type and availability. Contact us and we will happily help arrange this for you, along with bike bag rentals if necessary.

  • Of course - we recommend min 40mm tyres. Transfers for your own bike and storage of your bike box during the trip is included. 

  • In the spirit of being self-sufficient, there is no van support on this trip. However we’ll provide basic mechanical support if needed throughout the trip.

  • Yes - bikepacking is a good exercise to get minimalist! We’ll will be sharing a full packing list before the trip. Suitcases and bike boxes will be stored for the duration of the trip. 

  • A refund of the deposit is made in case of force majeure (for instance if you have an injury that prevents you from attending). If you're simply changing your mind, a refund will be made if we find someone to take your spot. 

  • Full payment is due 30 days before the start of the trip on April 17, 2025.

  • Insurance is not included on this trip. We highly recommend taking travel insurance at the time of reservation with a local company where you are visiting from. We will ask you for details of your insurance provider before you travel.

  • The booking deadline is April 30, 2025.

  • The trip requires a minimum of 5 people. We will indicate when the minimum number has been met so you can book your flights!
